Admission and Applications

Normally, the academic year begins in early September which is the normal time of admission into the Bachelor’s degree programme. The school year consists of two semesters of sixteen weeks each (including two examination weeks), and closes in May.

The minimum entry requirements for the Bachelor of Education degree programme shall be Malawi School Certificate of Education with six credits, including English or its equivalent. Those who possess a Diploma of Education from recognized institutions will be allowed to begin from the third year, if one of the courses they studied at diploma level is offered at Laws Campus. The average entry mark for diploma students is _…….__……. However, the applicants will be required to produce official transcript from the previous institution, showing the work they completed. Note that transcripts are handled only between institutions.

Those who possess a Diploma in Theology from recognized institutions will be allowed to begin from second year, because they are switching from one programme to another- from Diploma in Theology to Diplorma in Education. The average entry mark for diploma students is …………….. However, the applicants will be required to produce official transcript from the previous institution, shorting the work they completed. Note that transcripts are handled only between institutions.

Admission is subject to:
• Character recommendation
• Applicant providing evidence of adequate financial support
• Applicant’s ability to pass Entrance Examinations
• Applicant’s ability to meet the average entry mark for those beginning in third year
• Applicant’s ability to pass oral interviews
• Availability of classroom and residential accommodation

Entrance Examinations

Entrance Examinations are normally conducted in the second week of June and dates are announced in the media. Durine these examinations, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee of K…………, bring two passport size photographs, and writing materials. Candidates will undergo oral interviews on the day the Entrance Examinations are written.

Decisions will be made by the Admissions Committee before June 30, and successful applicants will be notified immediately in writing and through the media. If after two years admission is not taken up, it shall automatically lapse. The College reserves the right to admission.

 How to Apply

Every applicant must complete an application for admission in which he/she provides the necessary evidence of his or her moral, spiritual and academic fitness for admission to the college. The form is available from the University Registrar’s Office at the C.C.A.P Synod of Livingstonia Offices in Mzuzu and the College Registrar’s Office at livingstonia. A non-refundable application fee of ………………… must accompany the application. On the application form, the applicant must name three refererrs including a religious leader.

Full documentation of all academic qualifications must accompany the application. This must be done by April 30. The application must be addressed to the Registrar, University Office, P. O. Box 112, Mzuzu.

Applicants are strongly advised to send to the Registrar only photocopies and not originals of their documents during the process of application. During Entrance Examinations, however, all candidates with a Diploma in Education from recognized institutions will not be required to sit for Entrance Examinations. However, they will undergo oral interviews.
