About Us

Obong University located in the serene country town of Obong Ntak, Obong University provides an excellent environment for academic pursuits and self development. The friendly, neighbourly atmosphere of the surrounding community is one of the assets that visitors find most endearing. Founded in 1997 as African College of Management, the following year gave rise to the University of Africa, as Obong University was formerly known. The university is in close fellowship with Obong Christian School (founded 1986), which is sponsored by the congregation of Christians at Mt. Morris, Michigan. The Christian school, also in Obong Ntak, has educated thousands of young people in southern Nigeria. The schools are under the direction of Dr. Moses Akpanudo

Department of General Studies
The Department of General Studies co-ordinates the teaching of General Studies Courses. These courses are to sharpen the entrepreneurial and administrative skills of the student. The Unit provides courses in the humanities, entrepreneurship, science and social sciences.

Admission and Applications

  • Admission into the University is open to all qualified candidates irrespective of religion, ethnic group, gender, race/creed, disability or political inclination.
  • Admission into the University will be only through either the University Matriculation Examination (UME) or Direct Entry of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
  • In order to be eligible for admission into the Obong University, all prospective students are expected to satisfy the following general requirements:
    1. For admission through 100 level (UME), candidates must:
      * Possess five (5) credits at SSCE equivalent in relevant subjects at not more than 2 sittings;
      * Score acceptable points in the UME in relevant subjects.
    2. For admission to 200 level (Direct Entry), candidates should (in addition to 5 SSCE credits passes as in (c) i above, obtain a minimum of two (2) A’ level (or its equivalent) passes in relevant subjects, or possess NCE, GCE A/Level, OND or HND with credit/merit passes, or possess a good first degree in a relevant field as the case may be.
  • Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics is compulsory for admission into all courses.
  • Candidates are also required to pass an internal screening test/interview in addition to passing the UME.
