General Entry Requirements

IUEA welcomes applications from everyone with the interest and potential to succeed in higher education.

In principle we consider any qualification for university education as stipulated in the NCHE Qualifications Framework for Uganda, and the East and Central African region, or its equivalent in International Qualifications Framework – including a wide range of European, African and the Middle Eastern and other international qualifications.

General requirements

We require all applicants for undergraduate programmes to demonstrate a good general education, which includes acceptable levels of literacy and numeracy, normally equivalent to at least two principal passes at A-levels.

Individual programmes may have additional requirements, and these are outlined in our prospectus.

English language requirements

English is the language of instruction at IUEA. International students must therefore have an internationally-recognised English language qualification or at least possess a reasonable/acceptable command of the English language.

For further advice on the acceptability of a full range of qualifications for students whose first language is not English or have not previously studied in English, contact our Admissions office.

Age restrictions

The University admits students on the basis of individual merit and does not discriminate on grounds of age. However, special arrangements are in place for students who will be under the age of 18 on arrival at the University.  For more information, please see the Undergraduate Admissions Policy.
