About Us

Governors State University is the general institution formed in 1969 for the aim of becoming a four-year university – is close to reality. In the fall of 2014 our first freshman class will become part of our learning community. This will be an exceptional year for the entering class. They will share three study themes – Civic Engagement, Global Citizenship and Sustainability – with courses connected across colleges and departments.
